早在數年前，科學家們就發現了稻米殼作為建築材料的潛在價值。稻米殼富含二氧化硅(SiO2)，而該成分是混凝土的重要成分。過去人們試圖利用燃燒稻殼後剩下的稻殼灰，作為水泥替代材料，但這種方法產生的稻殼灰含碳量過高，不宜充當水泥成分。
　　研究員們近日發現了一種新的稻殼加工方法，可以在稻殼灰在充當混凝土成分的同時，促進綠色建築事業的繁榮。
